"Rockfurred" came to us from the Florenceville area on the morning of October 16, 2018. She had been found approximately four days earlier and had been doing okay, but had suddenly taken a turn for the worse and her rescuer was unable to help her any further. Rockfurred was born about August 28, 2018 and weighed only 337 grams. She was very, very tiny, dehydrated, lethargic, had a slow heart rate and her temperature was only 32.5*C - it should have been closer to 39*C. She also had ulcers on the roof of her mouth. She is fortunate to have received the medical care she so needed.
Rockfurred was given warm subcutaneous fluids and once warmed up was given some nutritious food and kitten milk replacer to help give her some of the nutrition that her mom would have normally provided. She was soon sitting and standing, becoming more alert and eating a bit on her own. However, in the next few hours she took a very bad turn for the worse and would not have made it, but fortunately her vet was there to save her and it looks like she may now be fine. We hope so, and will keep you up to date on her progress. She is on medication to help her become strong again, is fed every three hours around the clock, and has a very toasty warm bed to ensure she's warm and comfortable. She'll hopefully put on a little weight soon. She knows how fortunate she is and shows her gratitude at every opportunity. She loves to purr, but you really have to listen to hear it! She spends her days under vet observation until we know she'll be okay.
I'm interested. How do I meet Rockfurred?
